Members and Friends of LRA,
Well, I guess we are all in trouble now. I'm president. Which means, pizza and boobies for all!!
As my first act as president, I want to make the watching of Star Trek, Battlestar Gallactica and midget porn mandatory watching for all current and future LRA members. So say we all!!
Ok, seriously. It's funny writing this coming off the weekend I just had. It was my experiences at GLLA a couple of years ago that inspired me to get active with the local community and see in which ways I could contribute. If you had told me 3 years ago I would be the president of one of the oldest BDSM/Leather clubs in Chicago, I would have laughed in your face, called you a dirty liar and beat you with my big white cock -- even tho I didn't have one at the time.
So I am both humbled and excited to serve as your president for the next 2 years. LRA has an amazing history and I hope to uphold that history by staying true to the vision and scope of those who led us previously. With predecessors such as Hans B., Miss Simone, Steve C., Steve E., and Lady Isis, as I said recently, I have some pretty big shoes to fill.
I know the job will be made easier with the excellent Board of Directors that we have. Larry, Phyllis, Jules and Randy have all been critical to the growth of LRA, and with the addition of Riley and Angie, I am sure we will be able to accomplish a host of amazing things in the time to come.
Over the next 2 years, I want to focus on Education, Outreach and Expansion. I want to increase our educational opportunities, expand our outreach efforts and expand LRA both in size and scope. I want to help make LRA a place where all are welcome, all are comfortable, and all are in an environment where they feel they can thrive.
Whether we accomplish these things by increased participation from our existing members, the attracting of new members, or partnering with other like minded organizations, each of these items will be crucial to the long term survival of LRA. I know that by working together, we can accomplish a great many things. I personally believe we have a responsibility not only to our members, but to anyone who can learn and grow from interacting with LRA.
Whether you are a Dominant or submissive or switch, Master, slave, top, bottom, straight, gay, bi, black, white, brown, orange, tall, short, rich, poor, puppy, pony, worm.....no matter what the person is or what (or who) they are into, I want to assist in making LRA a place for everyone.
However, I can't do it alone. We have an outstanding board of directors, but even the 7 of us aren't able to accomplish everything we need to do ourselves. We NEED your help. We need your ideas, your effort and your energy. We need you to volunteer your time and effort to continue the positive forward momentum that LRA has experienced recently. In order for us to continue to grow and thrive, it needs to be a team effort by each of us.
I encourage us all to attend the many events that we sponsor on a regular basis. I think we have enough going on to appeal to almost anyone.
Whether it is our monthly educational demos, bootblack nights, The Roundtables or the upcoming FemDom nights or our new "What is Leather" series, your presence is not only wanted, but needed. If you know someone in the lifestyle who is in recovery, encourage them to attend our 12 Step Support group. If you attend a local munch or slosh, encourage others to check out LRA and what we have going on. Remind people that Members of LRA are eligible to use the dungeon at no cost during off hours. Let them know that LRA is truly more than a place just to play. It's a place to meet people, get educated and find a group of like minded perverts, I mean, people, who share your interests.
We may not always agree, but at the end of the day, LRA is a Family, and we should never lose sight of that. A big old kinky, perverted Family.
I want to encourage everyone to mark on their calendars our next Members Meeting, which will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 4:30pm. We have many things to discuss, plans to make and madness and mayhem to schedule. Plus, you get to hear first hand the state of the club. Where we are and where we are planning to go. As members, you have the opportunity to have your voice heard, and assist in shaping the future of the club. Remember, this is YOUR club, not just the boards.
I want to thank you all for the trust you have invested in me, and I will try my best to work for you; the members, our visitors and our community to the utmost of my ability.
