Join us at LRA for Bootblack night this Friday, April 9 for a special celebration.
pony, International Ms Bootblack 2009, will be preparing to step down from her title year later this month at International Ms Leather in San Francisco. We at LRA are very proud of her as she has represented the IMsBB title very well around the country and in turn has served as a wonderful ambassador for LRA. Because the members and friends of LRA have showed her tremendous support throughout the year, we invite you to come out as she prepares to "pass the sash" from her title year and let her show her appreciation for those who given wonderful support.
So come out and bring your boots and your leathers for pony. With her, as always, will be our other resident bootblacks, Bootdog (IMLBB 2008), Riley (GLBB 2007) and rachel, who will perform their normal service, along with the hijinxs that we have learned come with being around bootblacks for the past year!
We will also have our monthly cigar smokeout, hosted by Riley, so bring your favorite cigar or some to learn more about cigars and why it seems to go so well with bootblacking.
As a special treat, LRA welcomes the members of Black Beat Chicago, who will be visiting us, so it promises to be a VERY special evening. You won't want to miss it!
About our bootblacks:
pony is the International Ms Bootblack 2009, where she was also given the "Hearts and Sole" award in recognition of her commitment to the art of bootblacking and the Leather community. she is a bootblack whose work is well respected in her home community of Louisville, KY and her adopted community in the Chicago area. she is an active member of LRA Chicago, a member of the Louisville Trailblazers, and a founding member of House Coptos, her Leather family. She is honored to be a part of Mama's Family as "Mama's pony girl." Previously, she was named Kentucky Bootblack 2006.
Bootdog is the International Mr Bootblack 2008. A recent transplant to Chicago from California, Bootdog is a well known and well respected bootblack around the country, and LRA is please to have someone of his "caliber" to join our growing ranks of skilled bootblacks. He is a full member (and webmaster) of the Alameda County Leather Corps (ACLC) and an associate member of STARS M.C. He is also a cigar aficionado and appreciator of uniforms. He also has a slight "bear" fetish. (If you don't know what that means, come to LRA and ask him!)
Riley Johnson is a Chicago-based educator, scholar, and bootblack who is very proud to have been awarded the Great Lakes Bootblack 2007 title. Riley first honed his bootblacking skills as a formal apprentice to Leslie Anderson (IMsBB 1999) and Suka Malone (IMsBB 2005) and has continued to learn skills from those he has met in his travels. He is greatly honored to be a part of Mama's Family as Mama's Switch Hitter and is a volunteer and voting member of the Leather Archives and Museum, where he is currently overseeing their vast collection of pins and buttons. In 2008, Riley competed in the International Community Bootblack competition where he was awarded the "Golden Brush" award, recognition of his commitment to the spirit of the leather community. Riley is also a member of the Board of Directors at LRA.
rachel is known for her wit as sharp as her knives, she is a queer submissive who recently served as contestant support for pony's run for the International Ms. Bootblack 2009 title along with serving as the judges' assistant for 2009's Great Lakes Bootblack contest.. While she has been active in kink for a few years, Rachel has recently found herself drawn to a more traditional Leather path. She is currently a bootblack in training with Great Lakes Bootblack 2007 Riley Johnson, a proud member of House Coptos and LRA, and is honored to be serving as the judges' assistant for this year's Great Lakes Bootblack contest.
