LRA Announces the 2010 Hans Blanken Founders Award Recipients
On Saturday, May 29, 2010 during LRA’s 6th Annual Fetish Ball, the Board of Directors announced the recipients of the 2010 Hans Blanken Founders Award.
This award, named in honor of Hans Blanken, founder of the Leather Rose, is given to individuals who have not only shown outstanding support and service to LRA, but to the Chicago community as well. LRA is proud to honor their contributions and hope that their actions serve as a model for others in our community.
This year’s recipients are:
Ben Myers – LRA’s landlord, partial legal counsel, and all around supporter. As mentioned during the Fetish Ball, LRA would not have its current home without the support and encouragement of Ben. Not only our landlord, but he was been a tireless advocate of the mission of LRA and has offered his assistance in several ways whenever it is needed.
Lady Isis – LRA’s President Emeritus, she has served in several capacities at LRA, including both President and Vice President. Whenever called upon to assist, be it in front or behind the scenes, Lady Isis has always given her best in advancing the cause and mission of LRA.
Mistress Joanne – as a long time supporter of LRA, Mistress Joanne has always an individual that the members and friends LRA have always been able to count on. Whether it is presenting a demo, leading a discussion group, or just serving as a mentor not only to members of LRA, but members of the Chicago community in general, she has been a wonderful example of the best Chicago Leather tradition.
The Board of LRA is proud to have given these awards in recognition of the service of these individuals. The Hans Blanken Founders Award plaque will be updated and displayed at LRA.
