LRA makes its presence known at GLLA
Greetings All,
As most of you know, this weekend was the annual gathering of the Great Lakes Leather Alliance in Indianapolis, Indiana. We had several members from LRA who not only attended, but participated in the event in various ways.
One of our new board members and resident bootblacks, Riley, was the producer and coordinator of the Bootblack contest. Riley ran an excellent contest and got high marks from those in attendance for his professionalism and support of the Leather community.
pony, LRA member and International Ms Bootblack 2009 served as one of the judges for the contest, and well, pony was in true pony form. smile Especially when she was wearing her tiara.
Rachel served as Riley's assistant during the bootblack contest, along with Taryn who served as the tallymaster. They also did a wonderful job and represented themselves and LRA extremely well.
Miss Simone, longtime LRA member and International Ms Olympus Leather 2009, gave an excellent speech about what makes a Leather woman.
Saturday afternoon, LRA co-sponsored a cocktail party that went along with the poolside auction. In addition to those already mentioned, Laurel and Wren really helped show the commitment LRA has to the community at large. As we served up ice cream and a special "punch," we were able to raise a little bit of money for the bootblack travel fund, but also we had a blast in the process.
On a personal note, as GLLA is one of my favorite events, I was very proud to see the participation of the LRA members who were in attendance. It was just another reaffirmation that LRA has some of the best members around.
So I want to say thank you to all of the members of LRA who were at GLLA and represented our club in an outstanding manner. You all made an enjoyable event all the more enjoyable by your presence and participation. It is because of you that other clubs and members frequently said they wanted to come to Chicago and visit LRA to see us all in action.
