What is Leather with Mistress Joanne -- Friday 9-25-2009 @9:00pm
The L.R.A. successor to one of Chicago's oldest BDSM Social Clubs in furtherance of its mission of providing educational and social opportunities to the Chicago Alternative Community proudly announces our new "What is Leather? with Mistress Joanne" on Friday, September 25, 2009.
This monthly program (4th Friday of every month) will provide education and information on the Leather lifestyle, answer questions, address misconceptions, and give a detailed look at what makes someone a Leatherman or Leatherwoman. The first session will deal with a general overview of the Leather lifestyle, it's history and it's relation to the BDSM and GLBT communities.
This series will be led and hosted by our own Mistress Joanne.
Mistress Joanne, the now-retired Mistress of IML, was closely involved with running International Mr. Leather for ten years. Active in the pansexual leather community, Mistress Joanne has presented workshops/seminars, judged leather contests, volunteered with the Leather Archives and Museum, and was chosen Pantheon of Leather’s 1999 Woman of the Year. She served on the Board of Chicago Hellfire Club’s McAdory Fund, the first female to hold any CHC-related position, and was named an official Friend of the Club (first leatherwoman so honored in the all-male club’s 36+ year history). In June, 2009, she was “birthed” into Mama’s Family (Mama Sandy of San Francisco) as “Mama’s Mistress of IML.” Mistress Joanne works with a group that provides assistance for leathermen/women entering a leather/fetish contest and that mentors titleholders during their pursuit of a regional, national or international contest title (we help them achieve their personal best). As an Ordained Clergy Person by the Church of Spiritual Humanism, Mistress Joanne is having grand fun designing ceremonies and legally performing marriages and commitment ceremonies, both kinky and vanilla!

To attend this event, all we ask is that you sign our standard guest waiver, have government issued photo identification, to prove that you are over 21 years of age, and that you respect the fact that the LRA is an alcohol and drug free space and that no alcohol or drugs may be brought into the space or ingested at the LRA. Non-members of LRA should send an e-mail to "guest-registry@lra-chicago.org" to RSVP. This program will start PROMPTLY at 9:30pm.
